Head of Development

The Information Technology Group is responsible for:

• Managing technology infrastructure
• Supporting, maintaining, and enhancing existing business systems
• Delivering and deploying new systems, technologies, and services

The Group provides each major business with a dedicated team that works closely with that business to understand its particular technology needs.
The Manila Operations based in Makati City, Metro Manila forms part of IT group’s strategic goal to offer first class IT support and development to the Bank’s group of businesses and since its inception in October 2007, the Manila Operations has played a key role in the provision of IT group services to end users within the organization.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Manila Operations in the role of Head of Development. In this role your responsibilities will include:

• managing the Central Operations and Central Development Facility of the Manila Operations to ensure successful ownership, support of applications, creation and delivery of applications for global businesses
• promoting the development and support capability of the Manila Operations within the Bank, garnering new internal business where possible and practical
• ensuring that requests from multiple businesses are dealt with efficiently such that all requests receive timely attention and service
• developing a strategy to allow for multiple streams of development to take place from the one group, and to ensure tools, methodologies and engagement models are appropriate and well communicated
• developing a strategy and appropriate toolsets in conjunction with Head Office counterparts to ensure that multiple business units can be engaged simultaneously, and to define standard engagement models
• developing and publishing of metrics by which the team’s success can be measured
• creating relevant teams and an associated leadership and governance structure to support development in relevant languages and frameworks
• delivering and maintaining applications using either wholly offshore capabilities or being part of a broader, distributed capability
• implement proven offshore application delivery methodologies that are suitable for the Bank’s environment and various business engagement models
• engage effectively with key business stake-holders including offshore sponsors, lead business analysts and IT group counterparts.

To be successful in this role you will be:

• a strong, dynamic character, capable of dealing effectively with colleagues and business users working in a constantly evolving environment
• comfortable working as part of a regional team across multiple countries, cultures and time-zones
• able to remain calm under pressure and when faced with adversity or urgent issues
• customer-focused with a “service first” mentality and best-in-class verbal and written communication skills
• able to view current processes and procedures as opportunities for enhancement, tuning and improvement
• able to demonstrate a track record of successfully managing your own time and delivering solutions on time
• proactive with analytical problem solving skills
• able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Minimum required experience:

• a university degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent
• at least 15 years of experience leading application development teams using agile and traditional waterfall software development life-cycles
• solid experience of Software Quality Assurance processes, including associated automation tools
• building of pioneering teams and the migration of development to an off-shore facility
• demonstrable success in delivering and supporting applications to a global community
• good knowledge of recent development languages including Java and .NET is a MUST.

Experience in the following would be considered an advantage:

• Development experience within an investment banking environment.
