Oracle Developer

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for database design and development in Oracle technologies, the development of stored procedures, triggers, and PL/SQL programs as well as new application development projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Analyze, design, develop, test, document and maintain efficient and quality PL/SQL-based database objects such as stored procedures, functions, triggers and packages
• Enforce PL/SQL standards and review PL/SQL code, offering more efficient solutions
• Logical and physical database design
• Solve production performance and data issues in a timely manner
• Current project work within the global team is aimed at the improvement, replacement and creation of high profile internal and external systems

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of Oracle Database design and development experience including significant 10g experience
• Experience in designing and developing high volume transaction based systems
• Highly skilled in Database design and modeling
• Highly skilled in SQL, PL/SQL development, Stored procedures and triggers
• Experience using Bulk processing, ETL operations, REF cursors, collections, DBMS packages
• Highly skilled in performance tuning - analyzing query plans and query tuning, partitioning, optimizer hints
• Experience with SQL*Plus, SQL*Loader, Data Pump, Export/Import, TKPROF, Oracle scheduler, Advanced Queues, Object management
• Proficient in PL/SQL Developer, Toad, Erwin, Version Control tools
• Must have experience working in large data environments and large team environments
• Must be able to work independently and be self-directed
• Good interpersonal skills
• XML, UNIX scripting experience desired.

Oracle experience:

• PL/SQL - Minimum 4-5 years experience with Oracle 9i and, in particular, the use of new features
• Data Warehousing techniques and methodologies
• Strong performance tuning/query optimization
• Database Design
• Experienced in performing the logical and physical database design
• ER diagrams

Desired Skills:

• Strong Oracle PL/SQL development and optimization skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision once targets and goals have been assigned
• Ability to utilize new tools and technologies in a rapidly changing environment
• Ability to mentor other members of the development team
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills
• Knowledge of the financial industry a plus
